Lafarge NewCem® slag cement is a finely ground, hydraulic cement produced from granulated blast furnace slag, a product of the iron-making process. NewCem helps achieve low permeability, resistance to chlorides, high sulfate resistance, resistance to alkali silica reaction, greater strength potential, lower
temperatures for mass concrete, and improved workability. Concrete made with NewCem® can be expected to be light in color.
High alumina slags do not mitigate sulfate attack in concrete. Concrete containing slag cement with alumina content greater than 10% should not be used where concrete will be exposed to sulfate conditions unless there is data to support its effectiveness to reduce sulfate attack. Consult a Lafarge Cement Technical Representative before using NewCem slag cement in applications that will be exposed to sulfate conditions.
| NewCem provides a significant contribution to sustainable construction. The use of this material in concrete production consumes less energy and offers improved efficiency and building performance. NewCem can also be used to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points. Product claims are based on proper use in accordance with recognized industry standards. Please contact your Lafarge Cement representative for specific product information, availability and ordering. |
